We are delighted that throughout 2024 we will again be offering a (mostly) Zoom-based series of talks and group discussions that are inclusive, accessible, mission-focused, and, above all, aimed to help theological reflection on faithful living in these times.
In this series, seven theologians explore how to bring the Bible alive, with reflections from a variety of perspectives, personal and political, local and national.

Mark Clavier, ‘Bringing the Bible Alive: Easter and the Fulfilment of Creation’
Monday, 13 May 2024, 7.30-9pm
Mark Clavier is Canon Theologian of the Diocese of Swansea and Brecon and Vicar of St Mary’s, Brecon. Besides serving in parishes in America, England, and Wales, he served for four years as Dean of Residential Training and then Acting Principal of St Michael’s College, Cardiff before becoming Vice-Principal of St Stephen’s House, Oxford for two years. He is the author of a number of books on Augustine and on the challenge of consumerism. His latest book is A Pilgrimage of Paradoxes: A Backpacker’s Encounters with God and Nature (Bloomsbury, 2021).
Peter Powell and Andrew Burrell, ‘Bringing the Bible Alive in Spiritual Direction’

Revd Andrew Burrell shares the role of incumbent for the Heart of Eden Benefice with Revd Fran Parkinson, and Revd Peter Powell is associate priest in the Benefice of Workington. They are committed to unlocking the Bible in ways that allow the deeper pondering of scripture, as Mary ‘kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart’.
Dr Karl Möller, ‘Bringing the Book of Jonah Alive’

Karl Möller has taught widely in biblical studies, theology, spirituality, and Judaism in university and theological education contexts, preparing people for Anglican lay and ordained ministry. His latest book is Jonah’s Story, Our Challenge: Reading a Biblical Narrative in Today’s Church and World (SCM, 2023).

Heather Walton, ‘Bringing the Bible Alive in Spiritual Writing’

Heather Walton is Professor of Theology and Creative Practice at the University of Glasgow. Her many books include Theological Reflection: Methods (with Elaine Graham and Frances Ward, SCM, 2019) and Not Eden: Spiritual Life Writing for this World (SCM, 2015).
Richard Peers, ‘Bringing the Bible Alive in Schools’
Monday, 11 November 2024, 7.30-9pm
Richard Peers is Dean of Llandaff. He was sub-dean of Christ Church, Oxford and, before that, the Diocesan Director of Education in Liverpool Diocese, and Head Teacher of Trinity All Through School, Lewisham, in London. He was a founder and first Superior of the Sodality of Mary, Mother of Priests, a dispersed community of Anglican priests with members around the world.
